Laura Griffith

Laura Griffith is a native of the Chicagoland area and has lived there her whole life. She developed a love for all types of writing at an early age and wrote for local newspapers and newsletters before turning her aspirations to fiction. She has written a few screenplays and stage plays, and finally finished her first novel, Remember, in 2009.

Laura is a huge supporter of fine arts – music, theater, and writing have played a part in her life since elementary school. Being a member of the band and theater in school helped develop her love of stories and performance. When time allows, she can now be found getting involved with her local community theater. She is also very excited to see her first childrens play being performed in February of 2010.

Her inspiration can be found in the writings of her favorite authors who span a number of genres – James Rollins, Matthew Reilly, Danielle Steel, and Lisa Gardner top her list of writers to model. Of course, her biggest inspiration and support come from her friends and family — without whom her sanity would be lost. Everyone from her amazing daughter, husband, and parents to her inspirational grandmother to her supportive close friends and family — all of her writing is dedicated to them.

Nik Korpon

‘Stay God, Nik Korpon’s dark and edgy novel about an ambitious drug dealer in Baltimore, reads like the bastard child of Hubert Selby and Raymond Chandler. In beautifully rendered prose, Korpon delivers an intense story of love and treachery on mean and merciless streets.’ —Donald Ray Pollock, author of Knockemstiff

‘Nik Korpon’s Stay God is what happens when a story breaks loose from its moorings, burrows into the reader’s psyche, and lives there, throbbing like the delirious ghost of William S. Burroughs. This book will stalk you.’ —Rayo Casablanca , author of 6 Sick Hipsters and Very Mercenary

‘The pop culture apocalypse is now, and Nik Korpon is one of its darkest new voices. Stay God mashes up the music, the movies, and the TV of our generation and pours it into a rusty martini shaker. It’s a story about secrets, lies, love, and all of the stuff with which we fill our lives and time. Korpon, with his whiplash noir, is one to watch.’ —Anthony Neil Smith, author of Yellow Medicine and Hogdoggin’

Skimming a vein between drug-fueled noir and paranoid thriller, and as resonant as a lip-bruising kiss, Stay God is a narrative force to be reckoned with. Nik Korpon doesn’t so much tell a story as he inflicts it. Like Damon, the reader is time and time again left “tight roping between terrified and devastated.” —Review by Jesse Lawrence, welcometothevelvet.com

Author Nik Korpon is not satisfied to let a simple nod serve to validate his fandom, whether of movies, of music, or of literature. No, Korpon takes what is inherently compelling about each of his many references and weaves those concepts into his story … Do not fear feeling excluded by a hipster manifesto. Korpon is not a fanboy tailoring his writing to his obsessions. He is most definitely a writer first, a damn fine writer, using his own passions to substantiate his characters. —Review by Caleb J Ross, thenervousbreakdown.com

Nik has been published in numerous magazines and journals, including 3:AM, Out of the Gutter Cause and Effect, Gold Dust, Colored Chalk, Troubadour21, Sex and Murder, The Mechanics Institute Review, short-story.me and Sideshow Fables, as well as the upcoming Shadow Kindred Anthology from Living Dead Press. His novella Old Ghosts is currently being serialized on Troubadour 21.com. He also has a chapbook forthcoming in late 2010. He reviews books for the Outsider Writers Collective, co-hosts Last Sunday, Last Rites, a monthly reading series in Baltimore, and is a Fiction Editor for Rotten Leaves Magazine. Somewhere between all of that, he is writing his second novel.

Greg McCarthy

“The Price of Life is a timely, engrossing legal thriller that kept me glued to the pages, and gave me something to think about when I had finished. Michael Wallace

Michael Wallace grew up reading all the history texts and novels he could find. His library shelves are filled with a range of genres from H.G Wells and Jules Verne to Michael Crichton and Tom Clancy. It is only natural he writes thriller adventures with a science fiction twist and some history thrown in for fun. At the point the reader becomes comfortable with the pace of his stories, he will hit you with a plot twist, which will change the game.

His first novel, The Red Fire Fly, broke new ground when it was released with its own soundtrack. The combination of music with a novel adds a third dimension by letting the readers hear the background of the scenes.

He lives in Colorado where on weekends you will find him rock climbing, or kayaking, or backpacking, or snowshoeing, or hiking, but most likely, you will find him running a trail somewhere. He runs 30 to 40 miles a week and he does it barefoot. Yep, he is one of those insane barefoot runners and to make it worse he hopes to one day run in all the stages of the Four Deserts Race. You can learn more about him and his books at http://thehashwriter.com.

Brandon Tietz

Photo used with permission by Jen Trenchard

“Maybe it’s not fair to call someone this good, this edgy, and this original the next ‘Anyone.’ Brandon Tietz stands alone with his masterful debut. But let me be unfair: take the best of Bret Easton Ellis’ minimalism and nihilism (complete with models and drugs and terrorists), Palahniuk’s outrageousness, and the rest (most of it actually) is the wholly original voice and vision of Brandon Tietz, and what you’re gripping in your sweaty hands is the harrowing, ball-busting, bright white burst of light that is OUT OF TOUCH.”—Joe McGinniss Jr., author of The Delivery Man

Brandon Tietz is the author of the novel, Out of Touch, a transgressive take on nightlife, socialites, and sensory deficiency. He enjoys a well-poured vodka tonic, good conversation, and the musical stylings of Röyksopp.

Currently, Tietz serves as one of the moderators of the Chuck Palahniuk Writers’ Workshop and is working on his second book, a themed collection, entitled, “Vanity.”

His work can be seen on Lobster Cult Magazine and Outsider Writers Collective. He is also a three-time Chuck Palahniuk anthology finalist.
